Built on open source — and we say so.
Axis is a distribution of genuinely open-source applications, packaged, designed and supported by FLOWW Media. Here’s exactly what that means.
What’s open, and what’s ours
The Axis apps are built on open-source projects licensed under the permissive MIT and Apache-2.0 licenses. Those licenses let anyone use, modify and redistribute the code — including commercially — as long as the original copyright and license notices are preserved. We preserve them.
What FLOWW Media builds and maintains on top is the product you actually buy: the unified launcher, the cloud & self-hosting portal, a single design system across the whole suite, packaging and signing, support, documentation and the roadmap — including our AI features. The foundation is open; the suite is ours, and the credit is shared.
How we credit the original projects
Attribution travels with the software, which is where the licenses require it: every Axis app ships the upstream copyright notices, license texts and (for Apache-2.0) NOTICE files, viewable in-app under About → Licenses & acknowledgements. All Axis branding and artwork is original — the upstream logos are not open source and are never reused.
